Zaragoza Province

Zaragoza province is situated on the cross-roads which lead from the Mediterranean and head towards the Spanish Meseta.

It lies in the central part of the community of Aragón and is limited not only by its neighbouring provinces of Teruela and Huesca but also by the Communities of Navarra, Rioja, Castilla y León and Catalonia.

The province is hugely varied in terms of geography.

The variety ranges from the huge wheat plains of the Five Towns, the fertile valleys of Gállego, del Jáon and Jiloca, by the tall moutains in the north typified by Moncayo, with its peak reaching to 2,315 metres and by the wine groves of the Campo de Borja.

The climate is generally continental with hot summers and winters that can make a brass monkey very uncomfortable although, the excesses experienced in Castilla y León are not felt as much here.

Zaragoza is the political and economic centre of the Community of Aragón and is the hub of communications for the whole area, being centrally placed on the AVE route between Madrid and Barcelona.

The river Ebro flows through the centre of the city providing it with a mild climate and fertile fields.
