Castilla y León

Burgos Province

One of the principal monuments worth visiting here is the Monasterio de la Vid, a religious centre whose origins belong to the mid 12th century.

León Province

Historical indications would suggest that in the year 68 A.D. the Romans founded a military colony in the place that is now the city of León.

Ávila Province

The south of the autonomous region of Castilla y León is governed from the centrally located capital city of the same name; Ávila. Built on a desolate granitic plain, Ávila is perhaps the most emblematic city of Spain.

Astorga, León

Cities are like good wine; they seem to mature and improve with time. Astorga is no different and, in fact, seems to prove the fact. In Astorga the passing of the centuries is almost tangible.

Palencia Province

South western Palencia is known as the Valleys of Cerrato. Towns such as Villamuriel de Cerrato, close to the Palencian capital were, in medieval times, home to the bishops of Palencia.
